Dear UM staff and alumni,
After 38 years of development, the University of Macau (UM) has made outstanding contributions in teaching, research and community service, and has developed into the largest comprehensive public university in the region. To fully demonstrate the development process and academic achievements of UM, and promote the five virtues listed in the university motto (namely humanity, integrity, propriety, wisdom, and sincerity) and the concept of talent cultivation, the UM Library plans to establish the “UM Scholars Collection” to preserve and display the fruitful achievements of UM scholars.
At present, the library has already received more than 1,000 books by UM scholars. To further enrich the collection, the collection of works by UM scholars will continue to be carried out. Your support and contribution to the academic development of UM will be much appreciated. The details of the collection project are as follows:
- The books written, edited, or translated by the faculty members or alumni who are working/had worked at the University. If the books cannot be provided, please provide a book list, and we will obtain the relevant books through purchase or other methods;
- To donate the books as permanent collection, the donor is encouraged to leave an autograph, an inscription or a stamp on the books;
- The library will issue a thank-you letter after receiving the book donation;
- All books received for the “UM Scholars Collection” will be kept as permanent collection of the UM Library.
The establishment of “UM Scholars Collection” is of great significance to the University and will be a long-term task. It is hoped that our alumni will pay attention to this project and actively donate books to the Library.
The Library would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generous support for the collection development of the Library. If you have any new publication, you are welcome to continue donating them to the Library.
