To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the University of Macau, the University of Macau Library has recently published a catalogue entitled "Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the University of Macau: Documents and Archives". The catalogue recorded more than 100 manuscripts from the Library's collection, which were selected to be exhibited in four batches at the Manuscript Corner this year.

Professor Rui Martins, Vice-Rector (Global Affairs) of UM, said that the library has always been working hard on the preservation, collection and promotion of rare manuscripts and documents. This exhibition displayed some of the manuscripts and original documents collected by the library over the years. Although the history of UM is not long, the library has many precious documents related to the university. During the exhibition, the library continued receiving donations from the university and the public. In the future, as a permanent exhibition, the Manuscript Corner will continue to display manuscripts and various original documents in batches. We look forward to receiving generous donations and strong support from the university and all walks-of-life.

The catalogue "Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the University of Macau: Documents and Archives" showcases the University's rich collection of manuscripts and reflects the Library's spirit of adhering to tradition and dedication to the preservation and conservation of documents. It includes congratulation letters from well-known universities in the United Kingdom, the United States and other countries in celebration of the predecessor of the University of Macau -- the University of East Asia, original letters of appointment of rectors and vice-rectors of the university, the university's honorary degree certificates, documents of the university's relocation to Hengqin, as well as calligraphies of famous scholars such as Professor Jao Tsung-I and Professor Cheng Xianghui, many of which are available to the public for the first time. These precious manuscripts and documents are important evidence of the evolution and development of UM.
