On the Fourth of December of 2023, the University of Macau Library had a pleasant visit of two librarians from Brazil, Ms Antónia Memória and Ms Esmeralda Silveira, accompanied by Ms Camila Macêdo, lecturer at the University of St Joseph of Macao.
The distinguished visitors were warmly welcomed by Dr. Wu Jianzhong, the University Librarian of the University of Macau. During the visit, interesting ideas and experiences related to librarianship were exchanged.
It should be noted that librarian Antónia Memória (Antónia Motta de Castro Memória Ribeiro) served several libraries during her 35-year career, including the Federal Senate Library and the Chamber of Deputies Library in Brazil. Now retired, she is still very active in activities to disseminate and support the science of librarianship, which can be seen on her website https://www.amemoria.com.br/mboard.php.
It was with great pleasure that we received from her hands two of her books, which she kindly signed with special dedication, including the Brazilian edition of the AACR2 (Anglo-American Cataloging Code), in Portuguese language. The visit was accompanied by the Assistant University Librarian Mr Billy Leung, Functional Head of the Technical Process Unit of the Library Ms Priscilla Pun, and the Senior Librarian Mr Paulo Viegas.
