On 19 April 2024, the "Charming Hangzhou" photo exhibition and the "Window of Hangzhou" book exhibition jointly organized by the University of Macau Library and the Hangzhou Library were grandly opened at the sky garden of the University of Macau Library. University Librarian of the University of Macau (UM) Wu Jianzhong, Assistant University Librarian Billy Leung, Professor of UM Faculty of Law and Head of Public Administration Training Centre Shui Bing, Professor of UM Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Vice Chairman of the Zhejiang University of Macau Alumni Association Gong Gang and other guests attended the opening ceremony.
This exhibition displays about 50 photos of Hangzhou's urban scenery provided by the Hangzhou Library, comprehensively showing Hangzhou's history, culture, natural scenery, urban construction and humanistic features. In addition, more than 150 books with the theme "Window of Hangzhou" selected by the Hangzhou Library are also showing at the exhibition. The books cover various aspects of Hangzhou's history, culture, tourism and economy, providing readers with a richer way to understand Hangzhou.
Liu Dong, Director of the Hangzhou Library, said in his congratulatory letter that this is the first project between the Hangzhou Library and the University of Macau Library after signing a cooperation agreement. He hopes that through these photographs and documents, which are rich in Hangzhou’s cultural characteristics, UM teachers and students, and Macao citizens will have a better understanding of Hangzhou and appreciate its “beauty of charm”.
Wu Jianzhong said in his speech that both Hangzhou and Macao are famous historical and cultural cities, and therefore exchanges between libraries in the two places are of great significance. This exhibition is a cooperation achievement between the two libraries and also a window for cultural exchanges between the two places. The two libraries will continue to strengthen exchanges, deepen cooperation, and continue to provide a platform for in-depth understanding of each other's regional cultural characteristics.
This exhibition will be open until 31 May 2024. All are welcome to visit.
