Macau Academic Library Alliance held its 22nd joint meeting (2024/10/09)

 

The Macau Academic Library Alliance held its 22nd joint meeting at the Macao University of Tourism (Taipa Campus). A total of 16 library representatives from nine institutions participated in the meeting, with representatives from the Education and Youth Development Bureau and the Macau Library and Information Management Association attended the meeting. Tam Sio Wa, Acting Director of the Department of Higher Education, said in her speech that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Macau Academic Library Alliance. The alliance had always provided learning and research resource services to teachers and students in universities across Macao, and through the co-construction and sharing of resources between institutions, it had greatly supported the development of higher education and scientific research innovation in Macao.

The meeting was chaired by Lei Ka Man, Chair of the alliance and Director of the Macao University of Tourism Library, who reported on the latest developments of the alliance, introduced activities related to the 10th anniversary of the alliance's establishment, the alliance’s newly built Portuguese resource platform, dissertation platform, Macao research resource platform, scholar literature platform and open access literature platform, allowing scientific research and academic achievements to be widely disseminated and further enhancing the influence of Macao academic research. After the meeting, the Macao University of Tourism Library also held a professional lecture on scientific research tools to introduce the scientific research in Macao with data, as well as a comprehensive performance analysis tool to analyze the scientific research productivity of the institution and conduct benchmark analysis with the scientific research of global peers.

Representatives attended the meeting also included: Lam Io Fan, Director of the Escola Superior das Forças de Segurança de Macau; Ines Lau, Library Director of Macao Polytechnic University, and Functional Head Wu Iat Pio; Shi Limei, Library Director of City University of Macau; Emily Chan, Head Librarian of the University of Saint Joseph (Macao), and the Deputy Librarian Lei Hoi Kei; Raymond Wong, Associate Librarian of the University of Macau, Assistant Librarian Billy Leung, and Functional Head Wilson Hoi; Xiao Long, Executive Deputy Director of the Macau University of Science and Technology Library, Deputy Director Yan Shilei, and Team Leader Du Juan; Kuok Chi Kin, representative of the Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau Library; Tan Zehan, Associate Professor of the Macau Millennium College; and Ms Lau, Secretary of the Macao Library and Information Management Association.
