A New Generation of Reference Managers -- Two Effective Research Tools on Trial (2012/05/10)

Dear All,

As a continuous effort to support the research activities of our university, the library would like to invite faculty members to join the trial of institutional accounts for Mendeley and WizFolio, as tools to facilitate your research process and get in touch with other researchers in your areas all over the world. These two research tools could also connect with social media like Facebook and Twitter, which helps to enhance your academic reputation and promote the inter-institutional cooperation.

(1) Mendeley
Based in London and founded in 2007, it is used at and endorsed by some of the world's leading research institutions. It helps you to organize your research, collaborate with others online, and discover the latest research.

If you wish to take a trial, please send your request with your UM email address to lib_ref@umac.mo for account set-up. The trial period will end on 6 July 2012.

(2) WizFolio
It is developed by a privately held Singapore company founded by an adjunct professor of National University of Singapore and the President of MedicineLodge Inc., the largest orthopaedic R&D company in the US. It allows you to manage and share information in a citation ready format including research papers, patents, documents, books and more.

For registration for trial, kindly sign up with UM email address at http://wizfolio.com/. The trial period will end on 28 February 2013.

It is understood that using those tools with personal account is free of charge, but the institutional accounts could provide more convenience to its users, like bigger capability for storage, more citation styles for selection as well as some useful functionality. Since the institutional accounts are established just for trial, transferring overall data from the accounts on trial to your personally own ones will not be applicable.

Should you have any comments or suggestions about these trials, please feel free to send an e-mail to lib_ref@umac.mo. Your feedbacks are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your kind attention!

Regards,
UM Library
