Library Activity: A Talk on "The Poetry of Everyday Life: U.S. Slang & Popular Language" at the American Corner (2012/02/20)

Come to join us for a better understanding on U.S. slang & popular language!

The University Library is pleased to hold a talk on "The Poetry of Everyday Life: U.S. Slang & Popular Language" to cultivate a learning atmosphere on campus for general education. Ms. Francesca Lichauco, Public Diplomacy Officer from the U.S. Consulate General in Hong Kong and Macau has been invited to share her expertise with us. The delivery language is English and the following points will be covered in her presentation.

  • What is “slang”?
  • Where does it come from?
  • Who uses slang and why?
  • Mini-English class – learn U.S. slang together!
  • Sharing resources on where you can learn more about U.S. slang

The talk will be held on 23rd February 2012 (Thursday), from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the American Corner of UM Library.
