Database Training: Web of Science (2007/10/09)

Dear All,

In order to continuously enhance the ability of faculty members and students in searching the e-resources in the Library, we constantly liaise with database vendors to offer a variety of training sessions for our subscribed products. The next upcoming session will be held on 30th October 2007. It is for the Web of Science (SCI-EXPANDED, SSCI & JCR), which is provided by Info Access & Distribution (HK) Ltd and organized by UM Library. There will be two sessions of the training and they are scheduled as follows:
 

How to Search in Web of Science
Date 30th October 2007
Time 11:00am–12:00 noon (First Session)
3:00pm–4:00 pm (Second Session)
Venue Bibliographic Instruction Room (RC03), Ground Floor of the Library

Info Access & Distribution (HK) Ltd/td 
Web of Science -- It is a suite of citation databases including Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED) and Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI). Those databases contain citation and abstract information on the published journal articles and also have connection to Journal Citation Report (JCR) for measuring the impact factor of the journal the article is published in.The speaker will explain and demonstrate the system functions of these databases that the Library users should be aware of when operating.
