Library Cultural Activity: "Jam Session: America's Jazz Ambassadors Embrace the World"-- Photo Exhibition and Music Talk (2011/10/13)

Dear All,

We are pleased to announce that a photographic exhibition "Jam Session: America's Jazz Ambassadors Embrace the World" will be held at the Art Gallery of UM Library from 18th October to 18th November 2011. This exhibition is jointly presented by the Consulate General of the United States in Hong Kong and Macau via the Public Affairs Section and the University of Macau Library via the American Corner.

The exhibition features more than 50 pieces of photographs from collections around the United States. It presents the history of the famed "Jazz Ambassadors" program, which sent some of America's most renowned jazz musicians like Louis ArmstrongDave Brubeck, Miles Davis and Duke Ellington to perform throughout the world during the 1950s, '60s and '70s.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition will be held at the Art Gallery onTuesday, 18th October, at 4:00 pm. After that, for a better understanding of jazz culture, there will be a music talk at 4:30 to 5:30 pm. at the Auditorium II of the Library. The talk will be delivered by Peter Lee from the Hong Kong Jazz Association.
