Library Professional Development Seminar Series (4) (2007/07/12)

Dear All,

In order to enhance the Library staff's professional skills so as to be able to provide an even better service to members of the university community, the Library has initiated a new in-service training program, entitled "Library Professional Development Seminar Series". Under this series, library experts from outside of Macau will be invited from time to time to come to share their valuable experience with the Library staff. Although the series will primarily aim at the Library staff, interested members of the university community are also welcome to participate as a way of getting to know the library operation as well as the staff who are serving you.

Following the very successful seminars held previously, the UM Library and the Public Affairs Section of the United States Consulate General (Hong Kong and Macau) will jointly organize a seminar on "East Asian Libraries in a Digital Age and Information Services to China Scholars in North America". It will be held on Friday, 20 July at 3:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. at the American Corner, 2nd Floor of the Library. Kindly refer to the attached summary of this seminar.

The speaker, Prof. Karen Wei, is head of the Asian Library, Coordinator of the Area Studies Division, and Professor of Library Administration at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in the United States. For her brief CV, please see the attachment.

Should you have any inquiries, please feel free to contact us at lib_ref@umac.mo.

ALL ARE WELCOME!

Regards,
UM Library
