Library News – New service arrangement of the University Library starting from 1 September 2020 (2020/08/26)

Dear All,

The University Library will have the following service arrangements from 1 September 2020:

Eligible users
Ø UM faculty members, staff and students, alumni, family members of UM staff and other eligible users (requires relevant campus card/library card). Outside readers are not allowed to enter the Library at this phase.

Opening hours
Ø Monday to Sunday (8:00 am to 10:00 pm)

Counter service hours
Ø Monday to Friday (9:00 am to 8:30 pm)
Ø Saturday and Sunday (10:00 am to 5:30 pm)
Ø Public Holiday (Closed)

Area that will be opened
Ø Public reading area and computer area from G/F to 5/F, including newspaper and periodical room, private study rooms, group discussion rooms, auditoriums, exhibition halls and meeting rooms.

Entering the library
Ø Readers may enter and exit the Library from the East gate (facing the Library Plaza) or West gate (facing the Central Avenue) of the Library.
Ø The maximum number of concurrent readers in the Library is 500.
Ø All readers entering the Library must have their body temperature checked and present the “Macau Health Code” (only green code can access facilities). Those whose body temperature exceeds 37.5 degrees Celsius or cannot present a valid heath declaration will not be granted entrance.
Ø All readers entering the Library must wear masks.

Seating rearrangement
Ø Expanded and rearranged seat spacing to avoid face-to face seating.

Book borrowing/return and laptops loaning services
Ø Book borrowing/return and laptop loaning services will be provided.
Ø Books with due date between 24 January and 6 September 2020 will not be considered as overdue and can be renewed.
Ø All returned books will be sterilized.

Cleaning arrangement
Ø Strengthen the cleaning of seats, service counters, elevators, computers and books.
Ø Disinfection supplies will be provided at the entrance of the library, elevators, and service counters for readers to use.

Other activities
According to the actual situation, limited library visits, lectures, conferences, training courses, exhibitions and other activities will be held. Some activities may be held online.
